Chefs’ tip #2
Check if chicken breasts are cooked
There are three ways to check whether a chicken breast is cooked. Here's what you need to know.
- Insert the tip of a small knife into the thickest part of the meat. If the juices run clear, the chicken is cooked. If the juices look pinkish, cook the chicken for a bit longer.
- Make a small incision in the thickest part of the breast. If the meat is white all the way through and you don’t see any pink meat, the breast is done. The juices will be clear too. This is a great method to use when you’re cooking a whole chicken.
- The third way is simple – just press the breast with your finger. It’s ready to serve when the meat feels firm but still slightly springy.
